Ken:.  I hear what you are saying about transporting the longer rail. When considering the parts for this package I was torn between

1. TS108 with 18" and 32" rails included

2. The 72", 32" combo

Dino's words keep it "Spartan" in the first post caused me to list what I did. Like you I do like the 50" rails (now 54" which will not fit in the gun case). I have 3 50" rails and one of them is cut into an 18" and a 32". For me this is ideal. The 18 and 32 are great for short cuts and handle easily. Joining a 50 and 18 is perfect for cross cutting sheet goods with a square. Join the 50's for rip cuts.

Another consideration was the smart table. I do not use saw horses very much any more. Almost everything is done on the Smart Table. It is a much better work surface. One of the great undocumented features of the smart table is that a ton of tools can be placed between the rails for easy access yet they are not on the work surface! If it came down to a question of space and I had to chose either saw horses or a smart table, the smart table wins. I just didn't think that an installer would be willing to make this change and add another large item to carry around, at least initially even though it is the right choice.

Also because of the Spartan goal I listed the smart clamp upgrade. Ideally it should be the whole smart clamping system. I very strongly dislike changing setups and would not be happy converting the clamps back and forth. By going with the complete clamping system the proper clamp for the job is always handy, time is money. Plus if more then 2 smart clamps are needed you can always take apart the clamping system.

The Ripsizer is out because of the need for tapered cuts. Also I do not think that the square is an absolute necessity in this package but would be a nice option, one that I would want. First thing that comes to mind is custom closet organisers. A square would pay for itself many times over on just one job.

Here is my ideal Installers package. Not quite Spartan but would give me all that is necessary to do almost any installation job.

1. Smart Clamping System
2. TS104 (instead of TS108 because this would fit in the gun case Dino sells)
3. 18" rail
4. 32" rail
5. Non Skid Tape
6. 2 Extra Anti-Chip edges (for the non-skid tape)
7. EZ Dust Port and Sheild
8. Smart Table Kit
9. Miter Square
10. Gun Case (all the above rails will fit in one case)
